ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Chops books are the brain child of author / illustrator Matthew Jenkins and are loosely based on real-life stories featuring the real-life Chops and her younger brother Wibs. When Chops was born in 2007, Matthew and his wife discovered that Chops had been born missing a left hand. Upon looking for children's books that featured characters with a difference, Matthew found that no books existed and so after some encouragement and general cajoling, Chops was set upon as an idea and adventure. Today, Chops has an international following all over the world.

Author / illustrator in his spare time, Matthew is a family man at heart who has a passion for creating stories that children with missing hands can relate to and identify with. He is a firm believer that everyone is perfect in their own unique way and that anything is possible when you simply put your mind to it.

Superstar

Star of the Chops series of books and general superstar all round. Chops doesn't typically like the limelight yet has somehow featured in her own right in advertising campaigns for diversity, the Paralympics, Google's 'Year of Search' and even become a YouTube sensation!

WIBS

Partner-in-Crime

Every big sister needs a partner-in-crime and Chops has hers in her little brother "Wibs". On the scene since 2010, the two of them are the stars of all Chops books and often a source of inspiration or even co-writers of the books themselves§  informing their dad or what is cool and what is not!
